On Strike for Christmas by Sheila Roberts.
I picked this up on a lark while shopping at Target shortly before Christmas. I was harried, frustrated and frankly going on strike for Christmas seemed like a good idea at the time.
Several women, all part of the same knitting group, go on strike for Christmas. Each has her own reasons for it,but mainly it's to get the men in their lives to appreciate all that is done to make the holiday happen as they have been used to....but maybe the men don't want the same old same old! In the midst of the strike there is one of the group who, having lost her son and husband, feels the others don't know how lucky they are. Living alone with her cat and feeling sorry for herself are getting to her though....so are the single mom with the cute kid and the older guy flirting with her at the soup kitchen!
Ultimately though it's their one friend dealing with a cancer come back that teaches them all the meaning of the season as they go decorate, cook for and shop for the friend and her family.
If you liked Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons and The Friday Night Knitting Club you will enjoy this book!
I give this a 4 out of 5 for a rating of very good.
